Design Lab - my own personal collection of weird and wonderful
design projects, illustrations and interesting stuff...
Drawing Cork was a 4 month side-project which compiled 20 high resolution photographs taken from the top of Patrick's Hill, Cork. The images were stitched together in Adobe Photoshop to create a large panoramic 9' x 3' image. It was then hand-traced in Adobe Illustrator using a Wacom tablet. The original photos were then removed to reveal an intricate line drawing of Cork's Northside. The image was featured as part of Cork Culture Night 2014 in the Cork Vision Centre, and is currently on display in Cork Airport. Download the full size image here (for non-commercial use only)
Cork City Centre
Finally, after 8 months of 'tipping away' - I've finished the Cork City Centre illustration. This project started out with a range of images taken from Shandon. These were stitched together in photoshop CC to create a large 12ft x 3.5ft panoramic view of Cork City Centre, from the Elysian to St. Vincent's bridge. This was (painstakingly) traced as a polygon style graphic in illustrator CC and finally colour corrected back in photoshop. Download the full size image here (for non-commercial use only)
Some cool facts and figures about Cork - the real capital ;-) Animated infographic and a free poster - enjoy.
Imagine living on a tiny little planet called "Corkonia" - Another quirky side-project (work in progress). If you think this little place should feature any particular Cork Landmarks - let me know and I'll try to add them as I go. Of course like everything else... the finished project will be available to download here, for free, when it's complete. So stay tuned...
